Intermediate level canning workshop scheduled for October

CCE Oswego will be hosting an intermediate level canning workshop on Oct. 19 from 9 – 10:30 a.m. at the County Extension Office located on 3288 Main St., Mexico, NY.

This workshop will provide training beyond a beginner’s level for home gardeners within the Oswego County area. Individual attendees should have some working knowledge and practical experience with canning before attending this workshop.

The guest speaker will be Jan Smith, a long-time Master Gardener for CCE Oswego. Jan is certified in food preservation and will be sharing best practices, including food safety guidelines, canning equipment and cost effectiveness.

Jan will also be doing an interactive canning demonstration with a focus on tomatoes and peaches. There will be plenty of time for questions.

The cost to attend this workshop is $10/person. Registration is required and seating is limited. To confirm your registration, payment must be dropped off or mailed to CCE Oswego, 3288 Main St., Mexico, NY 13114. Checks should also be made out to CCE Oswego County.
